Message to Parents
Nothing compares to the joy we all get from Christmas!!! Let’s make those memories with our kids this season, even with the craziness of COVID! Here’s a list of light shows and holiday events around the valley and throughout our state to get you and your kids into the Christmas Spirit! One of our favorites that is not on the list is off of Voltaire and Tatum (just south of Thunderbird). The entire neighborhood is lit up and decorated and best of all they’re all synchronized to the same radio channel! Drive through with your family and enjoy the light show or stop at some of the houses that offer a cozy fire and hot chocolate!!! Enjoy this time with your kids!
Now with your kids...
Grab your Bible, a football and get ready to experience Jesus with your kids! Here’s your theme…Gratitude means letting others know you see how they’ve helped you.
Yell out some football phrase your kids will know, “SET 42, SET 42, SET, HIKE!” and throw them the ball!
Ask them, “What’s your favorite sport again?” Then say, “You know, whether it’s football, basketball, soccer or swimming, the goal of any match or game is what? Victory! You want your team to win, right?”
“Let’s pretend it’s the fourth quarter and your favorite team is down by two touchdowns. What would happen if every player on your favorite team just decided to give up? They would lose, right? Winning teams know that it’s not over until it’s over. Keeping a positive attitude all the way until the last buzzer is super important.”
Read 1 Corinthians 15:56-57 together.
Share with them, “Because Jesus died and rose again, He made a way for all who put their trust in Him to be a part of God’s family, forever. With Jesus, we win! And that is why we should always have an attitude of gratitude. The next time you feel like giving up, remember to adjust your attitude and be grateful for what God has done.”
Finally, pray with them! They need to hear their parents praying out loud in order for them to follow your example (don’t worry if you’re not comfortable with your audible prayers at this point…they won’t care!).

New Attitude
The Story of the Workers in the Vineyard Matthew 20:1-15Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good. His faithful love continues forever.
Psalm 136:1, NIrV
Adjust your attitude.
Gratitude—Letting others know you see how they’ve helped you
I need to make the wise choice.
Next, we head to Matthew 20:1-15. Jesus told a parable about a few vineyard workers making comparisons about what others were getting paid. They became ungrateful for what they did receive and started complaining. In the end, they needed to adjust their attitude and be grateful.
Bottom Line: Adjust your attitude. We can change our whole outlook on life if we take the time to refocus and think about all that we’ve been given. We pray that kids will see their own life differently and discover all the ways they can show gratitude.
