Rules for Life: Play well. Finish Strong

LIFE APPLICATION | Responsibility—Showing you can be trusted with what is expected of you

MEMORY VERSE | Suppose you can be trusted with something very little. Then you can also be trusted with something very large.

Luke 16:10a, NIrV

BIBLE STORY

Golden Slumbers

Parable of the Bags of Gold | Matthew 25:14-30 (NIV)

BASIC TRUTH | I need to make the wise choice.

Next, we discover another one of Jesus’ parables found in Matthew 25:14-30. A businessman went on a journey and left three of his workers in charge of some of his money. Two of the workers turned a profit while the third buried his portion, did nothing with it, wasted his opportunity for growth, and ended up having it taken away.

Bottom Line: Make the most of what you’ve been given. God has given each of us responsibility over something—money, talents, even our stuff. Kids will discover some of the ways they can remember that everything we have comes from God. We pray kids discover how they can use those things wisely

Message to Parents

We all have a New Year’s resolution…for some of us it’s a little more exercise, for others it’s to lose weight, or maybe for you, organization is the key.  Saving money and spend more time with family/friends always hits the list but at the very top of most people’s New Year’s resolutions throughout the years has been trying to eat better and healthier!

But what about our kid’s food fussiness when it comes to sticking to that healthier diet?  Here’s some strategies that might help you get them closer to the foods you both should be eating.

The Secret Recipe For Enticing Your Kids Into Healthier Eating

Now for your Kids...

Grab your Bible, a Sharpie, a wide rubber band and get ready to experience Jesus with your kids!  Here’s your theme…Responsibility means showing you can be trusted with what is expected of you.

Say to them, “Have you ever thought about all the things you do in a day? If you were to make a list of all those decisions and actions, it would probably take a long time. No matter how big or small our decisions or actions may be, God asks us to commit everything to Him.”

Read Proverbs 16:3 with your kids!

“So here’s a little responsibility challenge. Grab a wide rubber band and write the word “EVERYTHING” on it with a ball point pen” (If you don’t have any rubber bands, cut out a strip of paper, wrap that around your wrist and tape to secure).

“For 24 hours, wear that bracelet as a reminder to commit everything you do, every word, every action, every thought and decision, to God. Stop and pray and ask God to help you and He will! Take the responsibility to follow God and commit everything to Him.”

Have fun with your kids!
