BIBLE STORY

Use Somebody

Gideon

Judges 6–8

BASIC TRUTH | I can trust God no matter what.

In Judges 6-8, we discover more about when God called Gideon to lead the Israelites. Gideon doubted God would want him to help. After all, Gideon was from the smallest tribe, the smallest family, and he was the smallest of his family! God wanted him anyway. Eventually, Gideon learned that God could use him no matter what!

Bottom Line: God can use you no matter what. Big or small, young or old, God can use people to do extraordinary things. We pray that whether kids feel like Gideon or have the confidence of an entertainer taking the stage, kids will realize that God can use them.

Message to Parents

It’s summer!!!  That means stress free, relaxing days by the pool, as your kids bring you homemade smoothies and read their latest handwritten poetry, right?!  Oh, if you could see the smirk I have writing this…when in reality it’s screaming cannon balls in the pool, fighting over the homemade lemonade that’s all over the kitchen floor and the beginnings of a Christmas list because they’ve already run out of things to do!!!  No worries, we’ve got you covered…here’s 6 fun things to put on your calendar with your kids this summer!

6 Things You Need To Do With Your Kids In The Next 90 Days

Now for your Kids...

Grab your Bible, a piece of paper, a pen/pencil/crayon and get ready to experience Jesus with your kids!  Here’s your theme…Confidence means to see yourself the way God sees you!

Ask your kids, “How often do you find yourself using the word “but?” Sounds like a funny question, right? Here are a few examples…”

  • I would play BUT I’m not fast enough.
  • I would try BUT I’m not smart enough.
  • I would ask BUT no one listens to me anyway.

Now read Ephesians 2:10 with them.

“Sometimes, we decide something before we even give it a try. We disqualify ourselves (we say, “nope, not me”) before we even start. But we forget a BIG truth found right at the beginning of Ephesians 2:10. We are God’s handiwork. That means we were made by God! He made us to do good, to make a difference. And what’s even cooler than that? He already knows what those good things are!”

With your kids, grab a piece of paper and tell them to trace around their hand. Decorate their handprint and ask them to write today’s verse any way they’d like on the page.

After you’re done, thank God for making them special and ask Him to give everyone the confidence to believe that He can use you no matter what!
