BIBLE STORY

Just Like Fire

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

Daniel 3

BASIC TRUTH | I can trust God no matter what.

We continue our discovery of confidence with an incredible example found in Daniel 3. Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego had their faith put to the test when they chose to obey God rather than bow down to the golden statue. They remained confident in God’s power. God was with them and rescued them from the fiery furnace.

Bottom Line: Trust that God is always with you. Not only has God been faithful to Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego, God has proven His faithfulness to all sorts of people throughout history. We can live with confidence, knowing that God will be with us in every situation we face.

Message to Parents

What’s the ratio between how much time you spend teaching your kids about behavior, etiquette and athletics compared to how much time  you spend talking about God?  Our kids need to hear it from you, no matter how old they are.  Check out this quick article…

Never Stop Talking To Your Kids About God

Now for your Kids...

Grab your Bible, a cell phone, your theater voice and get ready to experience Jesus with your kids!  Here’s your theme…Confidence means learning to see yourself the way God sees you!

Read Daniel 3:16-18 with your kids.

Tell them, “Can you imagine what it must have been like for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to stand before King Nebuchadnezzar knowing they would be thrown into a fiery furnace? Can you imagine speaking these words in the face of something so scary!”

“Think of the last movie you watched with the main character making a big brave speech right before facing something tough. Have you ever noticed how the music playing underneath the “speech” adds to the drama? The musical score can completely change the emotions we feel as we watch the action on the screen.”

Now find “The Avengers” or “Star Wars: A New Hope” theme song on your phone. Play the movie music as you read Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego’s words to the king. Use your most dramatic voice and ask them to think about the confidence these men had to have knowing God was with them.
