Ready For Launch

Initiative—Seeing what needs to be done and doing it

This Month’s Memory Verse:

Work at everything you do with all your heart.
Work as if you were working for the Lord.

I Just Want to Celebrate

The Wall Is Rebuilt – Nehemiah 3–4, 6:15-16, 8:1-17

In our final week, we head to Nehemiah 3–4, 6:15-16, and 8:1-17 and read that God helped Nehemiah and the people finish the wall in only 52 days! They celebrated what God had done for them, not only during those 52 days but throughout their history as His people. They heard God’s word and remembered how God had been faithful to them. They had a lot to be thankful for!

I can trust God no matter what.

Bottom Line

Look for ways to celebrate what God has done.

When we realize that God is doing amazing things in our lives, we can’t help but thank Him. We pray that throughout this month, looking at Nehemiah’s story, kids will see how God helps them every day. We hope they learn to celebrate God’s continued work in their lives.

Message to Parents

A friend of mine in the Internet Sex Crimes Unit of the police department used to tell me that there were so many sex predators online that it was like “shooting fish in a barrel”…it was that easy to find one.  Let’s stop them before they have a chance to harm one of our kids!  Here’s some strategies and advice to keep them safe.

5 Things To Say To Protect Your Kids From Online Predators

Now for your Kids...

Grab your Bible and get ready to experience Jesus with your kids!  Here’s your theme…Initiative is seeing what needs to be done and doing it.

Read Nehemiah 6:15-16 with your kids.

Ask them, “Rebuilding the wall was a gigantic task. How many days did it take them?  Yep, 52. That’s less than two months to . . .rebuild a wall that wrapped around an entire city…restore 8 different gates…provide protection from enemies!”

“How did they do it? GOD. God helped them. He is the one who made it possible to stay focused and get the job done! And when they finished, the people recognized and celebrated what God had done!”

“We can do that too! When we finish something, we can stop and thank God! Let’s pray a prayer of thanksgiving today by filling in the blanks below.”

God, thank you for helping me finish . . .

Thank you for a mind that helped me figure out how to . . .

Thank you for friends and family like . . . That helped me too.

Thank you for loving me and for helping every day. I love you, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
