Care For The People In Your Neighborhood

This Month’s Memory Verse:

“The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must act with justice. You must love to show mercy. And you must be humble as you live in the sight of your God.”

Micah 6:8, NIrV

All I Need Is a Miracle

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand | John 6:1-13

This familiar story is found in John 6:1-13. People had been clamoring to see Jesus heal and perform miracles. Even has Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee, they followed him. When Jesus saw them, He didn’t ignore them or send them away. Instead, Jesus knew they were tired and hungry. He had compassion for them and decided to feed them. With no food in sight, a young boy offers his meal of bread and fish. Jesus takes what the boy has and feeds the multitude with leftovers!

I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Bottom Line

Use what you have to help others.

Kids might think they’re too young to make a difference in how they treat others. This story reminds us that what we already have has the potential to help others and make a massive difference to them. We just have to be aware of others’ needs and be willing to give up what we have to help them. We pray that kids start to discover the easy ways to use what they have to show compassion.

Message to Parents

Have you heard the saying, “Go the extra mile, it’s never crowded”?  I don’t know about you, but I really find something challenging about this. The hardest work in serving others just might be that first mile. After we realize that it didn’t require a bunch of money, time, or resources we thought we would need, we often realize that we can endure the added effort and extend ourselves a little more to serve someone else. Check out this article about the benefits of what serving others does to our health.
