This Month’s Memory Verse:

“God began a good work in you. And I am sure that he will carry it on until it is completed. That will be on the day Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6, NIrV

Have a Little Faith in Me

David and Jonathan | 1 Samuel 18–20, 2 Samuel 9 (Supporting: 2 Samuel 4:4)

In week three, we jump back to 1 Samuel 18-20 and 2 Samuel 9. We dive deeper into the amazing friendship between David and Jonathan. Jonathan was a faithful friend to David when King Saul chased David and tried to kill him. David was faithful to Jonathan and kept an important promise to care for Jonathan’s family.

I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Bottom Line

Be faithful so others can count on you.

Faithfulness will look different for each of us. Some of us will be faithful to family members who need encouragement. Others will faithfully help friends who struggle a bit. We hope kids learn that God can do some amazing things through them when they are faithful to others.

Message to Parents

There is a huge detail, in my humble opinion, that got left out of today’s beautiful message and video to the Grove Kids. King David asks if there is anyone left in the household of Saul for Jonathan’s sake. Remember David and Jonathan were best friends and David promised to take care of his family. When the servants told King David that there was still a son of Jonathan alive, David wanted him to quickly be brought to his palace. Here’s the detail the video left out: Jonathan’s son was lame in both feet. HE COULDN’T WALK. I don’t think they invented wheelchairs back then, and I can’t imagine how easy it would be to move around without the use of your legs, even with two crutches. My assumption is, that Mephibosheth was carried to the palace. He was seated at the table each day to eat with the King as if he were his son. He was made a prince. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is what it will be like for us in Heaven. Princes and Princesses, eating every day with our King! We won’t see our brokenness anymore. Please take time today with your family to watch this video/song. If you don’t know it, I truly believe you will love it.
