Make Waves

This Month’s Memory Verse:

“God began a good work in you. And I am sure that he will carry it on until it is completed. That will be on the day Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6, NIrV

Gentle on My Mind

Jesus and the Little Children | Mark 10:13-16

For week four, we get a glimpse into the heart of Jesus in Mark 10:13-16. Mark records a time when Jesus welcomed children, gave them his attention, and blessed them. Back then, no one thought very highly of children, and what Jesus did would have shocked the people watching. His gentleness to the children continues to be an important example of how we can make waves when we respond to others with gentleness.

I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Bottom Line

God can give you the strength to be gentle.

Kids don’t always know how to respond with gentleness. But we want them to know that God can help them! We pray they’ll start to be aware of how they react when things don’t go their way and trust God to help them choose to be gentle.

Message to Parents

The dictionary defines MEEK as enduring injury with patience and without resentment | not violent or strong | deficient in spirit and courage. I think many of us at least used to think of our Christ in the last two definitions. I do think; however, that Jesus was very strong in spirit and possibly in stature (He was a carpenter) and we know He wasn’t afraid of conflict with anyone giving false teaching. I believe when Jesus show’s His meekness, it is in the idea of keeping the peace through His Gentle spirit. This Sunday, the Children will be learning what it means to be gentle like Jesus was. I encourage you to watch this short clip of the way Jesus is depicted talking to Nicodemus in The Chosen.
