God Chooses Abram | Genesis 12:1-9; 15:1-6
That man was Abram—later called Abraham. We’ll discover Abram’s story as we jump ahead to Genesis 12:1-9, 15:1-6. God promised Abram that his descendants would become a great nation that would show love to the world. God told Abram to pack up his family and move . . . and Abram wasn’t exactly sure how things would play out. But he followed God and trusted that God would provide.

Bottom Line
God has a plan to show love to the world.
God had a big plan to bless the world through Abram’s family. That plan came true when God sent Jesus—the Son of God, and also one of Abram’s descendants. God blessed the whole world through Jesus! No matter what we’re going through, or what we see in the world around us, we can know for sure that God has always had a good plan to show love to the world—and God’s plans are still true today.
Message to Parents
A promise that your family will grow like the number of the stars is a BIG promise. Believing something this BIG requires BIG faith!
God is so good to follow through with His promises – with or without us. Meaning, He doesn’t need us to keep His reputation, to grow His Kingdom, to follow through with His promises. Nope, God can take care of Himself. However; He desires us to be a part of His beautiful journey of growing the Kingdom, keeping the reputation of what Christ Followers are FOR, and yes, even following through with promises. When Abraham heard his offspring would be as numerous as the stars; you can imagine his surprise. I also think God’s promise created a new hope. A BIG hope. What hope do you need today? What will motivate you to keep moving for the gospel of Christ? Enjoy this additional resource, below, for building your hope and faith in Christ. Know that His promises were not just for Abraham. When you look up to the sky, remember that YOU are that promise.
