Give Thanks - Trust God with what you have and what you don't have.

This Month’s Memory Verse:

1 Thessalonians 5:14b-18
encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

This Month’s Virtue:

Gratitude – Being Thankful in all life situations

Be Content

God provides. Israelites in the Wilderness | Exodus 16

For week one, we pick up God’s Big Story with a Gratitude Series starting in Exodus 16 when the Israelites were set free from slavery and brutal work led by the Pharaoh of Egypt. They saw God’s mighty hand at work as He performed many miracles before their very eyes. There was no doubt God was about to do wonderful things for His people. All until their tummies growled. They suddenly became discontent in the wilderness and even grumbled to Moses that they wished they could have died in Egypt. Moses cried out to God and God heard. Moses relayed, “You will know that it was the Lord when he gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the Lord.”

I can trust God no matter what.

Bottom Line

You can be content and rejoice even in the hard times because God provides.

Whether we have a lot or we have little matters not. God wants our very best and that often starts with a content heart through thanksgivings. God will never leave us alone or leave us empty. We hope the Grove Kids learn to be content with what they have no matter what it is.

Message to Parents

Have you heard it said that we should count our blessings and make our blessings count? This last year my family gave one another a Blessing Box. Each person received a unique box filled with cut-out papers of words of encouragement, phrases, and Bible verses that remind us to be better than we were yesterday. I was the first to receive mine. I was overjoyed with the beautiful words my children wrote to me and the sweet words I don’t always hear in person from my husband. I go back to that box from time to time to search for a blessing or randomly receive one. I’m so grateful for the time they took to share those words with me. In turn, I was thankful to be a part of creating blessing boxes for them. I pray these boxes will become so full of words and encouragement that they overflow. Could you imagine being so full of the truths that God and those you love feel about you? You too would overflow. You would overflow to the people around you. You would feel that love so much, you would begin to believe it yourself. You would know that God desired you in the most precious way. God has already given us love letters and words of encouragement. More than we could ever need. The words and truths are in not a box, but in a book. The Bible is filled with 66 letters in fact. All to us and for us. If you are not reading your Bible these days, and you are not hearing words of encouragement lately; let me be the first. God Loves You! You are so worthy of Love, Peace, Patience, and Kindness. I’m proud of you and I’m thankful for you! -Holly
